The number one priority of Support Services is to care for the members of LFD3 and their families. The primary means of accomplishing this is through relationships and trust. We spend a great deal of our time getting to know members, both Administration and Operations and their families, through a variety of settings in order to build trust and rapport. The desired outcome is that members feel comfortable reaching out to us for help and resources when they face personal and professional crisis.
Support Services is available 24/7 for on-site short-term counseling that is safe and confidential for members and their families. This is extremely helpful when a member or their family is in crisis and can’t get into counseling for several weeks. We are able to bridge the gap by providing immediate counseling support that gets them to the point of being handed off to a culturally competent counselor. This is also the key role of our contracted, Mental Health Professional who can either provide long-term counseling or make referrals as needed and appropriate. We also meet members off-site or at our office who just need a sit down to get something off their chest in a safe space that is completely confidential.

Our Support Services staff and interns are also on-call Chaplains who can respond to critical incidents in order to care for people in crisis. In addition, we also care for and serve responders who might have been adversely affected by an incident. Depending on the needs of the individual situation we are called out as Support Services or a Chaplain to care for those in crisis.
Visit the Chaplains Association for Public Safety – Thurston County for more information.

Our Support Services staff and interns provide in-home and on-scene support to individuals who sometimes do not know where to turn. Whether it be needing more in-home care, or referrals for guardianship, we are educated and able to provide the assistance to get resources underway. We work with individuals to assess the safety of a home, provide in-depth information of where to turn next, paperwork resources, assist in filling out forms, make phone calls and provide follow up as needed. We strive to make sure that each individual is supported in all ways to help them thrive and succeed independently.
